Reserving Gesu for Your Wedding

Congratulations on your engagement! Now you want to reserve the Church of the Gesu for your wedding. How do you do that? Follow these steps and everything will fall into place easily.

Step 1: Approval of Your Wedding

The normative location for a wedding is at a parish church. Typically it is the parish where the bride or  groom are registered members or at the home parish of the bride or groom.

• Registered members of Gesu Parish and current Marquette undergraduate students do not need any documentation before contacting Fr. Thomas Anderson, S.J., to reserve a date and time for your wedding.

• Marquette alumni/ae or Marquette employees, if you are not a parishioner at Gesu, we will need a Letter of Permission from your home parish in order to perform your wedding. This letter must be received before a reservation is made. Once the letter from your current parish is received, you may contact Fr. Thomas Anderson, S.J., in order to reserve a date and time for your wedding.

Step 2: Make a Reservation

Check our available dates and times.

Email our Associate Pastor, Fr. Thomas Anderson, S.J., to make a reservation. To marry at Gesu you or your fiancé/e must be a Catholic who falls under at least one of the following categories: 

• Gesu Parishioner of at least 6 months
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Marquette University
• Currently employed by Marquette University with Letter of Permission from home parish
• Participating in the OCIA program at Gesu
• Marquette Alumni/ae with Letter of Permission from their home parish

Persons with no affiliation to Gesu or Marquette are not eligible to marry at Gesu.

The Church of the Gesu is a sacred space meant for the communal celebration of Catholic Sacraments. Persons of other faiths or no faith are always welcome to join our community; however, we ask that you celebrate your special day at another location. A bride and/or groom must be a practicing Catholic to be married at Gesu.

Step 3: Confirm Your Reservation

In order for your reservation to be definite, a one hundred dollar registration fee is required. This fee must be paid within two weeks of receiving your letter from the wedding scheduler. This fee is non-refundable.
