Preparing for Your marriage at Gesu

Initial Meeting

Once you have reserved your wedding date and time you should schedule a meeting with our Associate Pastor, Fr. Thomas Anderson, S.J.. At this meeting, we will fill out your Pre-Nuptial Questionnaire, discuss what other documents you'll need to collect and talk about the marriage preparation process. 

• If you are completing marriage preparation at Gesu you need to schedule an in-person meeting.
• If you are marrying at Gesu but completing your marriage preparation at another parish you can schedule a meeting in-person, on via Zoom, or by phone, to go through the wedding preparation process. 

Marriage Preparation

We can help you prepare for this sacrament; however, we can only help those that live within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. That means you can only do marriage prep at Gesu if you live in one of the following counties: Dodge, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, or Waukesha.

If you live outside of one of these counties, you will have to do marriage preparation with your own parish; but you are still welcome to marry at Gesu as long as you are a Marquette Alumnus/a,.

What does Marriage Preparation at Gesu Look Like?

There are four main components to your marriage preparation process: 

1. Completing your Marriage File Folder
2. Taking the FOCCUS and meeting with a FOCCUS facilitator
3. Attending the Milwaukee Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Retreat
4. Attending the Gesu Wedding Liturgy Workshop
