I’m excited to announce that Paul Trzebiatowski has accepted the position of Director of Liturgy here at Gesu. Paul comes to us with extensive experience in liturgy from the Basilica of St. Josaphat and the Cathedral here in Milwaukee. He’s a graduate of Thomas Moore High School and Cardinal Stritch University. We’ll welcome him to the staff on February 1. So, you can look forward to meeting him soon.
I’m optimistic about forthcoming announcements regarding the communications and human concerns positions. As I keep saying, stay tuned.
In other news this week, the Finance Council met on Tuesday. They approved some work on the roofs of the transept entrances, apparently the only parts of the roof that didn’t get replaced a few years ago. It looks like we’ll also be doing some significant work upgrading the fire alarm system in the church. We are still in the very beginning stages of that important project.
The renovation committee meets this week to continue to refine the scope and direction of the project. We hope to be able to share the fruits of their labors with a presentation to the parish sometime in the next couple of months.
Christian formation classes are underway again after the Christmas break. The confirmation students will have a day-long retreat this weekend. A group of about fifteen parishioners continues to make their way through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in the form of a retreat in daily life.
We’ll bless new members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the 10:30 Mass on Sunday. The Vincentians as well as newly forming parish commissions and committees continue to be on the lookout for new members.
So, these are a few of the good things going on at Gesu this week. We pray that there are many more to come.
