Human Concerns ministry at Gesu, in collaboration with Adult Formation, sponsors justice education presentations, highlights readings/reflections, and offers opportunities to help educate parishioners about social justice issues and Catholic Social Teaching. Some examples include between-mass presentations on immigration, racial justice, Laudato Si and the environment, Catholic Charities, Central City Churches, social justice and Ignatian spirituality, Ignatian Volunteer Corps, Ignatian Spirituality Project, St. Vincent de Paul Society and others. By way of collaboration with east-side and downtown Catholic parishes and Gesu staff, we will participate in justice education opportunities on a variety of pertinent topics. In particular, watch for educational opportunities around issues of hunger and homelessness in Fall 2018 and 2019. Check the bulletin, website and Facebook for details.
The Human Concerns ministry of Gesu provides the parish with Fair Trade coffee, whenever possible, for meetings and events at the Parish Center and in the Church of the Gesu. The coffee you drink at Gesu provides a “fairer price” to the coffee farmers in Haiti or in other countries where fair trade coffee is harvested.
