Happy Ordinary Time! Big thanks to all who helped take down the Christmas decorations and get the church ready for the new liturgical season.
Another big thanks to all who participated in the feasibility study for the proposed capital campaign. This week Michael Davy presented the results to the campaign steering committee, who are digesting the information and discerning next steps. Keep an eye out for a summary of those results in the near future.
As we move into Ordinary Time and the new semester, we have some formation offerings in the works. Before he left, Derrick planned some talks on the art and architecture of Gesu. The first of these will be coming up in a couple of weeks when Fr. Michael Maher, S.J. talks about Gesu and the Neo-Gothic Revival. More on that to come.
Beginning in February, we’ll have a monthly series of presentations on Ignatian prayer. These will be a great opportunity to delve more deeply into our Jesuit heritage. During Lent, Fr. Doug Leonhardt, S.J. will offer some introductory experiences of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
Also, during Lent, Fr. Michael Simone, S.J. has generously agreed to come and preach the Novena of Grace from March 4-12. The novena is a traditional Jesuit devotion leading up to the anniversary of the canonization of St. Ignatius and St. Francis Xavier. Keep an eye out for more on all of these.
I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to announce good news on at least one of our staff searches in the near future. If you know of anyone who would make a good communications coordinator, please invite them to apply.
