Every year in fall, the pastor from Sts. Simon and Jude Parish in Mon Opital, Haiti, visits Gesu for the Mission Appeal. In recent years this has been Fr. Roosevelt Leriche. Father is accompanied by Fr. Franck Rouleau of Outreach to Haiti. Gesu Twinning members and staff arrange the itinerary for our guests and include socializing, presentations at a parish reception, meetings with the Twining Committee, meetings with our colleagues at St. Patrick Parish in Grand Haven, MI (another twin parish), and meetings about special projects like the chicken production business. The priests concelebrate all Masses for the Mission Appeal weekend, and are also hosted at the local Jesuit residences for dinner. Their annual visit is a cherished time to foster our relationship and learn more about our twin parish in Haiti. Included are updates about the clinic, food for the students and the older adults, clean water projects, Prayer Partners, trips, and other special projects.
