Stewardship

We are Gesu Parish, a Catholic faith community gathered in the heart of the city by our loving God, called to be disciples of Jesus, and enlivened by the Spirit.

We welcome everyone, that we might more fully reflect the glory of God.

In all we do, we desire to walk with Jesus, whom we encounter in the Gospel and whose special love was for the poor.

We share with the Jesuits a mission of lived faith that promotes justice for all, and the guidance of Ignatian spirituality which nourishes our prayer and action.

Gesu Parish Statement of Values & Mission

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.”
(Acts 4:32)

What is Stewardship?
  • Stewardship is a complete lifestyle, a life of total accountability and responsibility acknowledging God as Creator and Owner of all.
  • Stewardship is responsible management of our God-given resources of time, talent, and treasure. It enhances our relationships with God and one another.
  • Stewardship is living out a commitment to be Christ-centered rather than self-centered and involves a conversion of the heart.
  • Stewardship is a lifelong journey with each person at a different place on the path.
  • Stewardship is not just a program, a fundraising scheme, or about money and donations.

2013 Gesu Stewardship Appeal

My name is Dan and I have been a member of Gesu Parish since 2003 and for the last few years served on the Stewardship Committee.

I have been able to understand and witness many of the good things that Gesu does for her community. From general ministry and daily mass to direct services like Saturday Meal Ministry and Sunday Breakfast Bags, to charity and outreach services like the Advent Mitten Tree and Haiti Children’s Tree, Gesu is there to provide the needed and necessary support.

I have also come to realize that Gesu relies heavily on the generosity of her parishioners and guests to make these programs happen. That’s where Stewardship comes in.

Stewardship is based on the fact that all that we have and all that we are comes from God. We commit ourselves to Stewardship as a way of thanking God for all His blessings; returning to Him a portion of the time, talent, and treasure He has allotted to us.

As someone who travels regularly for my work, and cannot always attend weekend Mass at Gesu, I made the decision to have my monthly donation automatically deducted from my checking account. This convenient program makes it easy to fulfill my Stewardship commitment, even when I cannot attend Mass. Plus I never have to bring cash or checks to Mass, and giving electronically helps Gesu save money and improve its budget.

In the coming weeks and months you will hear more about the 2013 Gesu Parish Stewardship Appeal. Please consider giving generously. In doing so, you join with hundreds of fellow parishioners to ensure the continued fruitfulness of Gesu’s mission:
