This year marks our thirteenth annual celebration of the
“Robert F. Purcell, S.J., Gesu Parish Peacemaker
Awards”. Awards are given for exemplary
peacemaking actions to students from the two Catholic urban academies,
the two
Catholic urban middle schools and the seven Catholic high schools in
Milwaukee County.
With so many forms of violence rampant in our neighborhoods, nation and
world, these students are a sign of consolation to all of us that the
“Peace of Christ” lives today in the leaders of
tomorrow. The awards and ceremony recognize and celebrate youthful
peacemakers and affirm schools’ efforts to develop student
skills and experience in conflict resolution and peacemaking.
