Embracing
the scriptural tradition, Catholic Social Teaching and Ignatian
Spirituality, the Social Ministry Committee serves to nurture a Gesu
Community of "salt and light" -- a community anchored in prayer and
worship that shares and lives Christ's message of justice, peace and
love in teaching, outreaching, stewardship, study, reflection, service
and action in the family, the parish, the neighborhood, the marketplace
and the public arena. In Gesu's mission of special care for the poor,
the Committee seeks to invite all parishioners to serve human concerns
and work for justice and peace in solidarity with the poor, the
marginalized and the alienated locally, nationally and globally.
