GESU CANTORS
Cantors lead the music prayer at all Saturday and Sunday liturgies, as well as Holy Days and other liturgical celebrations. Prospective Cantors should be able to sing and read music and be able to prepare music independently. Cantors join this ministry by audition, and experienced cantors are welcome.
GESU CHOIRS
- Gesu Parish Adult Choir
The Adult choir gathers each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. choral and instrumental prelude and the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. from September through June. The adult choir also sings for various funerals, Holy Day masses, Ordinations and other Parish Celebrations. At Christmas, the Adult Choir serves all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses. During Holy Week, the Adult Choir serves all Triduum and Easter Services. Membership in the choir is by audition.
- Gesu Parish Family and Youth Choir
The Family and Youth Choir sings on Sunday at the 9 a.m. Mass as they are available. Rehearsals are held from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on Sundays. There are no auditions for this choir: All interested youth and families are welcome to sing when they are available.
GESU INSTRUMENTALISTS
Musical instruments bring their own unique sound and add significantly to the richness of the music at Gesu Parish celebrations. Instruments generally play in ensemble with the organ and other instruments. Instrumentalists should be proficient at the intermediate to advanced level.
